Illinois Grant Program for Dependents of Police of Fire Officers
The spouse and children of Illinois police or fire officers killed or at least 90% disabled in the line of duty may be eligible for grant assistance to meet college tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduate or graduate study at Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC)-approved Illinois colleges and universities. Beneficiaries may receive the equivalent of 8 semesters of assistance. Applications and additional information are available from ISAC.

Illinois Merit Recognition Scholarship (MRS)
The Merit Recognition Scholarship (MRS) Program provides a one-time award (made in two payments) to qualified Illinois high school students who rank in the top 5% of their class at the end of the sixth semester. This scholarship can be used for payment of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses at MAP-approved Illinois institutions. Financial need is not a factor in determining MRS recipients. This scholarship does not count as a financial resource in calculations for the need-based MAP grant; students may receive both a MAP grant and an MRS award.

Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant
The Monetary Award Program (MAP) provides grants, which do not need to be repaid, for undergraduate Illinois students who meet the eligibility criteria. To receive a MAP grant, students must demonstrate financial need.

Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) Program
The Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) Program provides a grant to freshman students who have a zero (0) expected family contribution (EFC) calculated based on the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). IIA grants can be used for any educational expenses; they are not limited to tuition and fees.
